About Paddy Burtt

Paddy is an experienced leader whose career spans investment management, financial services, and mental-health advocacy. He has held senior roles including Managing Director and Associate Director, advising high-performance teams and executives across the financial sector. His work at the mental-health charity Brave Mind deepened his understanding of the critical gaps in men’s wellbeing support — particularly for high-functioning men who avoid clinical settings.

Alongside his commercial career, Paddy has held leadership positions in both business and sport, giving him a unique perspective on performance, resilience, and the pressures faced by modern men.

Paddy’s path to founding The Rural Retreat is rooted in a deeply personal transformation. After years of struggling with his own mental health while working in the city, he made the decision to step away and spend three years working on a farm. Immersed in nature, physical craft, and slower living, he rebuilt his life, values, and sense of self. This experience formed the blueprint for the retreat’s philosophy.

He is driven by a mission to give men permission to pause — to create space for reflection, connection, and the rebalancing of the conflict many feel between professional pressure, personal expectations, and self-care.
